Maruti Suzuki has officially begun production of its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, in India.
The milestone took place at the company’s new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of key dignitaries including Toshihiro Suzuki, Chairman and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features a rugged yet contemporary design, highlighted by LED projector headlights, Y-shaped daytime running lamps, wraparound LED taillights, and stylish 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the SUV is equally modern, featuring a dual-tone black and tan cabin with a layered dashboard layout and semi-leatherette upholstery that matches the interior theme. Adding to the premium appeal is a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, complemented by an Infinity sound system.

The cabin further benefits from a fixed glass roof, ventilated front seats, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and a PM2.5 air filter.
When it comes to safety, the e-Vitara will be the first Maruti Suzuki model to offer a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This suite of features will be backed by up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and parking sensors at both the front and rear.

The e-Vitara production line is the first major project at Hansalpur, followed by a lithium-ion battery plant for hybrids, a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki, highlighting India’s growing role in EV and hybrid manufacturing.
Alongside India, the e Vitara has also been showcased in the Nepalese market, with its official launch planned shortly after the SUV goes on sale in India—most likely in September.
